It’s time to get started on some holiday decorations this year! Thanksgiving and Christmas will come before you know it! We have a great family tradition of making new ornaments every year for our tree. This template for Christmas tree ornaments is a great personalized decorations for your own family tree and maybe make some for a few friends. This is an easy way to make custom Christmas ornaments for your family, and are also great personalized gifts to give to extended relatives and friends.
To make these ornaments you’ll need:
Card stock and/or scrapbooking paper
Start by picking out a few of your favorite pictures on your computer. Try to find ones that have faces centered in the middle of the picture and print size as 2”x 2”. Do this the easiest way for you. I created a 2”x 2” circle in a word processing application and printed out 12 images on 1 sheet of card stock. Other ways is to find an object like a jar and make the lid your template and draw circles on the paper to cut out. Pick special moments, or a collection of photos of one person that you know to give it as a gift too.
You will need 20 circles, so I used 10 pictures and 10 from a scrapbooking paper.
If you don’t have access to pictures try cutting up blank circles and draw or paint on them. This is a great activity for kids.
If you don’t have pictures then quotes are a great thing to write in the center of a few of the circles. I traced one circle multiple times on the back of my colored cardstock so you don’t see the pencil marks.
Bend the circles into triangles and glue the edges together. If you are bad at folding like I am, then create a triangle template out of card board that is a perfect size and draw those lines on the back of your circle, then fold. The top ring will be made up of 5 pieces together, the middle is made of 10, and the bottom is made of 5.
Once they are all glued together, glue a string or ribbon from the top and it’s ready to hang up!
There are so many variations to this project to size, colors, textures, and patterns; you can make tons and give them away this holiday season. Enjoy getting crafty this season!
